I am trained as a clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. I have specialized training in the area of alcohol and other substance use. While I mostly work with adults (including young adults), my clinical experiences are diverse. I have loved my work with children and adolescents, providing care across a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. I have experience and feel comfortable working with those coping with anxiety, depression/mood disorders, relationship distress, life transitions, self-esteem, and stress management.
My approach to therapy is evidence-based and primarily cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal in nature. I make every effort to establish a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients. I approach my work through providing a supportive, compassionate, collaborative, and non-judgmental atmosphere where individuals feel safe to share. We work on identifying and changing the thoughts and behaviors that are contributing to their concerns. Each person experiences life differently and has a unique story. I value and respect that uniqueness. As a clinician, my ultimate goals are to help ease my client’s suffering, help them recognize their strengths, reinforce their ability to navigate challenges, and help them reach a sense of peace.
